1970 - Jackson 5 Debuts In A Huge Way

1970 was an awesome year, although a quite different one from most of the 60's decade.  The Jackson Five (some called them Bubble Gum Music because the major appeal was to the teenagers) could do no wrong.  Everything they did hit the charts in a huge way!

Chicago released their Chicago II album, which was voted album of the year by Cashbox magazine!  The Beatles continued to have some hits, but rumors were circulating that Paul and John were not getting along.  In fact, Paul McCartney released his first solo album that year, and his single, "Maybe I'm Amazed" went on to become an all-time favorite.  Carole King gave America "It's Too Late".  Simon and Garfunkel topped the charts with "Bridge Over Troubled Waters", and The Guess Who hit it big with "American Woman".

Important Fact:  The American Top 40 debuted in 1970.  Host Casey Kasem counted down the top 40 singles each week as ranked by Billboard Magazine.
