Derby Arts Festival

Yes, there was one real horse and 15 stick ones to run the races in Hopkinsville during the Derby Arts Festival 2008. Amongst all the crazy festivities, the Bill Berry (short for Bill Booth and Amy Berry) morph sketch was a challenge for Jason, but you will just have to click here and look at the photos to see the process and the ending result.  While you're browsing, check out what other local artists in the area brought to the festival.

Kudos to everyone involved in helping to make a dream come true.  Enjoy the photos!

A Message From Adam Murphy:  I thought you all might like to see the video some of the members of Leadership Hopkinsville put together for our community project, Project Playground.  Below is a link to You Tube where you can view the video.  I want to thank everyone that participated in the project in any way.  We couldn’t have gotten it done without the outstanding community support we received.  Thanks again and I hope you all enjoy the video!  Click here

Celebrate National Military Appreciation Month in May: The U.S. Congress has proclaimed May as National Military Appreciation Month. On Friday, May 9, 2008 local elected officials will proclaim May as Military Appreciation Month in Hopkinsville-Oak Grove-Christian County. Businesses and organizations are encouraged to visit www.hopkinsvillechamber.com to view ways to be involved and demonstrate your appreciation to the military during this special month.

On the Wall of Honor in our Pennyroyal Area Museum there are 147 pictures of just some of the many from our area who have served in one or more branches of our armed forces. Many of the pictured veterans are still living while a good number are now deceased. Some were killed in action. Some were captured and served as prisoners of war for months on end in enemy lands. All proudly served their country.  Almost everyone will find at least someone on the wall with whom they know or knew at sometime. The museum is located on the corner of 9th and Liberty Streets and is opened 8:30 until 4:30 Monday through Friday and 10:00 until 3:00 on Saturdays.
